It is not Biden vs Trump. It is the Democratic party vs Trump. These two statements should not be confused. Donald J. Trump has literally replaced the Republican party. Without his blessing nothing occurs. There was a bipartisan agreement to at least partially fix the Southern border/immigration issue. The Republican party did not terminate it, Trump “vetoed” it. Trump, a non-elected party member, a convicted felon, rules the party as a dictator. No dissent or disagreement is tolerated.
Joe Biden, the actual President. is the highest-ranking member of the Democratic party. However, his is not the party’s dictator, The election in November is not a battle between Biden and Trump. It is a battle between Trump and the Democratic party. As such, the Democratic party’s nominee must be two things: First, the nominee must stand for the principles of the party. Second, the nominee must be able to strongly and assertively champion and defend those principles. Biden most certainly is up to the first task. I am worried that he might not be up to the task of requirement number two.
The Democratic nominee must not merely protest against the lies of Trump. The candidate must assertively call each and every one of them out. All lies must be fact-checked and discredited. There are voters out there who have yet to make up their minds. These voters may not be persuaded by the successes of Biden. They are looking to the future. They need to hear from someone who will forcefully point out that Trump’s promises are merely the rantings of a carnival barker.
The Republicans have Trump. The Democrats have an entire party. The Democrats must choose the person most prepared to defeat the Trump party.
